You havent included Winchester in your reviews. I try to ruin stuff like this and am always amazed how much it will take. Id probably go with the Weatherby, but both guns will be very accurate. I have fond memories of my Weatherby, but the last few years its spent more time in my gun safe while I pack smaller calibers. I havent heard you talk much about the Seekins rifles, any thoughts on them? I might just know about a new rifle coming in January 2023 that might change your mind, Awesome reviews Jim. I have played with many of the rifles you have. I havent seen you review any CZ rifle, any cause un particular? As of now its my most accurate and favorite rifle. Swelled and checkered grip areas are molded into both sides of the stock over the internal magazine and again at the beginning of the forearm section. Id pick the CVA Cascade from that group. Forearm checkering extends nearly all the way forward, ending just short of another molded-in and recessed sling swivel mount. Shut up Vlad. You know, turning ammo into noise kind of use. Hi, I really enjoy your reviews on YouTube. Very accurate, handles recoil well, and easily in your price point with room to spare. Thank you for your time and consideration of this request. However, as Ive owned the Sig Cross for almost a year now, Im surprised by how frequently its the gun I reach for in the safe. This gun is very accurate, has a great bump pad to absorb recoil (unlike most wood rifles) and has a threaded barrel for good measure. Thanks. You lost when you bought junk because it will always be low cost junk and you lost when you went to purchase something of quality because the price went way up because you fked around too long before you realized you should have bought quality to begin with when it was still relatively affordable. Every Weatherby Ive ever shot has been exceptionally accurate and well-built. I hear a lot of people liking the Seekins Havak, but it just hasnt grabbed me. People harp on me for recommending the Weatherby Vanguard because its essentially the same thing as a Howa 1500, but costs more money. I loved the way it shot and felt. Both the Momentum Elite and the newer Tikka Veil are . Jim, based on your reviews and several others, Id really like go with the 6.8 Western. Really, the only thing that keeps me from owning more of them is that I can rarely find them in the chamberings I want. You mentioned the seekins havoc, but not in detail. They look standard, dont include fluting on the (rather beefy) bolt or the (rather beefy) barrel, the action and barrel are just blued, the trigger is fine but not outstanding, the action is quite smooth but not as smooth as a Tikka. Mr. Harmer, I really appreciate your reviews on the Sig Cross and Waypoint. Unless you spend 4-5 G on a custom built left handed. I looked at the Tikas as well and for the calibers Im looking at, I just think theyll beat the hell outta my shoulder. I\ve been looking at a lot of your reviews and videos and am wondering if 7mm rem mag might be the best option for a cartridge. More velocity with the heavier bullets which by the way do not work so well in the 6.5 Creedmore. Nearly every touch-point Ive had with the company shows obvious signs of errors. It appears that Fierce is stretching the truth a bit on weight because mine weighs 6 pounds, 4 1/8 oz and its a short action with 24 6.5mm barrel so it should be about the lightest one they have. Excellent 3/4 MOA accuracy with Hornady Precision Hunter ammo, QD Flush cups and picatinny embedded in the stock, Available in all the most popular chamberings for custom rifles (including 7 PRC), I personally would have preferred that they went with a more modern vertical grip, I wish there were an arca rail on the bottom of the forend for connecting to a tripod. My 2 favorite calibers are 270( I have 6 of them) and 300H&H ( one pre 64 Winchester Model 70 and one Cooper). Likely sub-half-MOA. Any chance you would do a review on that caliber? I was unaware of the QC issues with the Cross. Both have 3 lug bolts with the lugs integral with the rest of the bolt body 3. Keep up the great work. I also like the Fierce Reaper and the Sako S20 for heavy-recoiling cartridges. Its a well designed stock, but the fit and finish feels cheesyespecially the checkering pattern they use. In our testing, the Weatherby Vanguard shot the most accurately, although the difference between it, the Bergara and the Tikka was so small that I doubt we could call it statistically significant. The action is a little sticky at the back because its a 2-lug so theres a little play at the back if you arent pushing straight. After reading you, I am going to use them now for hunting. How is it Franchis fault again? So how do you choose between them? have you try the weatherby mark v accumark in 300 win mag? I really like the trigger feel, but it is a little heavy. Christensen needs to improve its quality control in my opinion. The Momentum loved Armscors 168 grain FMJs, though. The reason I like the CVA Cascade over the Ruger American is because it has a much more rigid stock, a better action, and it still comes with a quality barrel. Another group was slightly more evenly distributed but similar in size. Question. They have shot the ruger and no problem but alittle heavy to be packing around the mountain. It feels almost as rigid as concrete, and thats a good thing. Floorplate, spring, and follower tilt out. A lot of states dont allow semi-autos for big game hunting so check your regs. And although most of my center fires are Deluxe grade, the aforementioned still holds true. Went on my first hunt (elk) this October. Do you still recommend them. Ive never seen Sea Adler anywhere in the US, do you know if theyre imported? Gunwerks builds great guns, but I just dont see them as being THOUSANDS of dollars better than a Fierce, Weatherby, Seekins, etc. Theres also no shortage of cartridges that send a 6.5mm bullet at much higher velocities than the Swede so I have to assume by your metric those are all superior to the Swede? I have a Sears gun with an FN Action and a deluxe hand checkered walnut stock (real hand checkering not junk machine cut checkering) in .270 caliber and I paid $300 for it used. The budget rifle video and cartridge wars are among my fav on YouTube for hunting alone. I just want an all around deer rifle that is easy to find ammo for. The rings are on a 30mm tube though, which has more surface area pressure from the rings to hold the scope in place. Bergara is intriguing, but I cant understand why its heavier. Is there a far better option for the money? It is a three lug 60 deg. Thanks and keep up the great content! As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. Jim, Just remember one thing the price of the good older stuff keeps going up and up so when you waste your money on junk it never goes up in value as fast as the good stuff so when you do get around to buying something of quality you lost twice not once. Synthetic as in black plastic, to be clear, not as in carbon fiber or some other fancy stuff. What are your thoughts on the Remington Model 700 Alpha One? A stock upgrade is also an option, Stockys is producing several different carbon fiber drop-in stocks for the Vanguard/Howa rifle line. There are very few reviews and almost zero information about how the Howa carbon shoots. It is so fun to shoot and is extremely accurate! They are built in the same factory where they produce Mauser and Blaser rifles (all owned by the same company), so I guess quality shouldnt be an issue but unlike Mausers and Blasers, these rifles are far less expensive. Trigger: 2-4 lbs, adjustable, single stage Thanks Jim.
